(July 8, 2023)—Haddam Volunteer Fire Company recently responded to four motor vehicle accidents.

At 2:15 p.m. on July 6, HVFC was dispatched to the intersection of Little City Road and Killingworth Road for an accident involving two vehicles. Four patients were evaluated on scene by Haddam Volunteer Ambulance Service, Inc. personnel and refused additional medical treatment.

At 2:50 p.m. on July 3, Durham Volunteer Fire Company requested the aid of HVFC’s Fire Police at the intersection of Blue Hills Road and Higganum Road in Durham. A driver had crashed into and snapped a utility pole that subsequently fell onto his vehicle. The driver, who was conscious and alert, was told to remain in their vehicle until Eversource secured the power. Once power was secured, the driver was evaluated on scene by Middlesex Health personnel. The driver refused additional medical treatment.

At 3 a.m. on July 3, HVFC responded to the intersection of Beaver Meadow Road and Turkey Hill Road for a single-car accident. A driver had swerved into the left lane of Beaver Meadow, struck a guard rail, and struck another guard rail on Turkey Hill. The driver was evaluated on scene and refused additional medical treatment.

And at 3:25 p.m. on June 27, crews were dispatched to Little City Road for a rollover. A driver heading south on Little City—between the Schuller Road and Sima Road intersections—struck a utility pole and rolled the vehicle onto its side. The driver was transported to Middlesex Hospital via Haddam Volunteer Ambulance.
