HVFC Battles House Fire on Plains Road with Mutual Aid from 5 Other Departments

At 2:20 p.m. on April 21, 2022, Haddam Volunteer Fire Company, along with multiple mutual aid companies, responded to a structure fire on Plains Road in Haddam. Upon arrival, crews from Middletown South Fire District and East Haddam Volunteer Fire Department searched the home and found one unconscious victim in the kitchen. The victim was immediately treated outside the home and was transported to Middlesex Hospital. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. Crews were on scene approximately four hours. Connecticut State Police, the Connecticut Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit, and the Haddam Fire Marshal are investigating the cause of the fire.
Mutual aid also was provided by Chester Hose Company, Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company, Haddam Neck Volunteer Fire Department.
While at the assignment, Haddam’s UTV was requested at a brush fire in Middletown. Crews from Killingworth, who were providing station coverage at Haddam, along with Haddam firefighters, brought the UTV to the scene. In addition, Haddam was dispatched to a medical call on Candlewood Hill Road and a motor vehicle accident on Killingworth Road during the structure fire.
HVFC is currently seeking volunteers to serve the roles of firefighter, fire police, and emergency medical services. All gear and training is provided. For more information email membership@haddamfire.org.
