HKHS Boys & Girls Spring Track Stay Unbeated and Improve to 4-0

On Tuesday, April 30, 2019 the Haddam Killingworth High School boys and girls track teams traveled to Cromwell to compete in a tri-meet against Coginchaug and Cromwell.  Both the boys and girls team came away with two victories on the day as the boys defeated Coginchaug by a score of 99-51 and beat Cromwell by a score of 120-25 to stay undefeated and improve to 4-0 on the season.  Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Luke Sodergren 110 hurdles (15.8) and 300 hurdles (42.5), Matt Jennings 800 (2:14) and 3200 (10:10), Seth Regan 100 (11.2), Tyler Knapp long jump (19’1″), Christian Uzwiak 1600 (4:49), and Colton Lavoie shot put (42’9″).  The boys 4×800 and 4×400 relays were also victorious on the day helping the team score valuable points.

The HKHS girls went 2-0 on the day as they beat Coginchaug by a score of 123-27 and defeated Cromwell by a score of 117-32. Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Autumn Coady won the 100 hurdles (16.4) and 300 hurdles (49.7), Emma Anziano 1600 (5:39) and 800 (2:31), Elena Boyington 200 (28.5), Meara Bodak 3200 (12:54), Julia Callis long jump (14’4″), Jess Timothy high jump (4’6″), Gabby Lester shotput (25’3″), Gabby Wyzykowski discus (74’8″), Amanda Minervino javelin (93’0″) and Morgan Schultz pole vault (6’6″). The girls 4×800 and 4×400 relays were also victorious on the afternoon to propel the girls to their victories.

The track teams will next be in action on Friday and Saturday at the Middletown Invitational and then next Tuesday, May 7, 2019 as they travel to Westbrook to compete in a tri-meet against Morgan and Westbrook.
