(February 15, 2024) — The Haddam Killingworth High School Boys Basketball team lost a close game to the reigning Shoreline Conference and state champion Cromwell Panthers by a final score of 40-40.

HKHS started the game strong. A smothering defense with help from Luke Mauri and Bryce O’Linn, both of whom returned from the injured list to the HK lineup, and Joe Slane, saw the Cougars take an early lead after the first quarter and keep the game close. However, HKHS was not able to maintain the lead, or hold off Cromwell’s Victor Payne.

Blake Kamoen led all scorers with a double-double 18 points and 13 rebounds. Andrew Crayton had 6 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Declan Moriarty contributed 7 points with 4 assists. Rounding out the scoring, Ryan Erskine had 4, Jay Evans 3 and Luke Mauri 2.

The Cougars are officially Shoreline Conference and state-tournament bound. Next up, the Cougars are away at Academy of Computer Science and Engineering on Friday February 16, 2024. It is Varsity only at 6:00 p.m. See you on the court.
