(February 12, 2024) — The Haddam Killingworth High School Boys basketball team defeated Valley Regional on February 9, 2024 by a score of 61-53. The Cougars are now 12-5 on the season.

HK was led by senior co-captain Blake Kamoen and junior Andrew Crayton, each with 19 points. Kamoen had 8 rebounds and 2 assists, while Crayton had 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 5 assists. Sophomores Jay Evans and Declan Moriarty had 12 and 5 points, respectively, and senior Ryan Erskine contributed 4 points.

The Cougars led by 10 in the 4th but gave back some of the lead and, with under two minutes to go, Valley closed to within two points. Crayton sank a three-pointer and sophomore Scott Hosney made two key free throws with the clock winding down to put the game out of reach.  The Cougars continue to see strong defensive performances from freshman Noah Marica, and junior Joe Slane, both playing aggressively and securing rebounds.

NOTE: Next up for the Cougars, an away game at Cromwell. Originally scheduled for Tuesday, February 13th, the game will now be played on February 14, 2024, because of inclement weather. JV at 5:30 p.m., Varsity at 7:00 p.m. See you on the court.
