HK Youth & Family Services Announces Reduced Schedule Due to COVID-19

Submitted by HKYFS.

(March 16, 2020) — To minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus Haddam Killingworth Youth and Family Services (HKYFS) will be closed to the public beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 until RSD17 reopens. A member of the HKYFS staff will be on hand to answer phones daily between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. We will also be available by email during regular working hours (M-F 8:30 a.m-5:00 p.m.). Phone messages will be forwarded daily to appropriate personnel and all calls will be returned within 24-hours. Messages left over the weekend will be returned on the following Monday. If there are extenuating circumstances, arrangements will be made on an individual basis and a meeting place determined at that time.

We recognize that this may be a difficult time for everyone as we enter unchartered territory. We will continue to work with our community partners and make every effort to connect those who reach out to us with needed services or resources. Counseling services will continue to be provided during this time through online or phone conversations. Please reach out directly to the Clinical Director if you are uncertain about these arrangements.

HKYFS staff can be reached at the main office: 860-345-7498 or Laura at Office@hkyfs.org, Laurie at ExecutiveDirector@hkyfs.org, Katy at ClinicalDirector@hkyfs.org, Karen at EarlyChildhoodCoordinator@hkyfs.org and Jenna at Jenna@hkyfs.org . Please do not hesitate to call for any reason during the next few weeks. Though we will be observing shorter business hours we will continue to do all we can to serve the HK community. Please reach out with questions or concerns. We are here and will get back to you.

(March 15, 2020) — Youth and Family Service of Haddam Killingworth will be operating at a reduced schedule for the next two and possibly more weeks as per recommendations to limit community spread of Covid-19. Anyone with an issue or concern is encouraged to call the office (860-345-7498) and leave a general message for Laura Shipman (Office Manager) Ext 1 to leave a message for Laurie Ruderfer (Executive Director) or Ext 2 to leave a message for Katy Kennedy (Clinical Director). We will be covering our office daily between the hours of 10:00 am to 2:00 pm and will field questions and calls at that time. If a call is received before or after that time we will get back to you within 24-hours of your call Monday-Friday. We are otherwise limiting all face-to-face contacts for the time being so ask that you not drop in to maintain the health and safety of all concerned. For the near future, all appointments will be conducted by phone unless there are extenuating circumstances.

We will strive to do our best to be here for those who reach out to us but we are, collectively, entering unchartered territory so please exercise patience. For urgent issues that arise beyond the work day dial 2-1-1 for assistance. If you are faced with an emergency dial 911.

Avoid crowds, follow the recommendations provided by health, medial and educational sources and take good care of yourself and your family.
