Higganum Farmers Market Moves to Saturdays This Summer

Submitted by Kristy Benson-Amarante

(February 14, 2023) — Warmer weather is coming, and with it comes the return of the Higganum Farmers Market! Look for our grand opening celebration to take place on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 Noon in its usual spot, the parking lot of the former Haddam Elementary School. The market will run June 3, to October 14, 2023, with a two-week break in late summer. (No market August 26th and September 2nd).

For the past several years, the market has been held on Friday afternoons, but this year we are excited to announce that the market and many of its favorite vendors are moving to Saturdays! Also new this year: grab yourself an egg sandwich and a cup of coffee as you swing through the morning market.
Look for the return of Bogue Farms and Walden Farms of Moodus. Each week they bring an assortment of in-season vegetables such as corn, tomatoes, peppers, beans, potatoes, cucumbers, as well as seasonal fruits such as apples, plums, peaches, and blueberries. Bogue Farms will also be bringing started vegetable plants, perennials, shrubs, and herbs.
The market also will offer baked goods, spices and seasoning mixes, local tea, freshly cut flower arrangements and other goodies from Melissa at Wellstone Farm, gourmet dog treats, jams and jellies, and an assortment of crafts and jewelry. Stay tuned as vendor commitments roll in! Follow us on Facebook for the most up-to-date announcements and information.
If you are interested in becoming a vendor, please contact Kristy at
Kristy@bitter-sweetfarm.com. Please note that there are local and state requirements that must be fulfilled in order to be a vendor.
