Haddam Troopers: Attempted Break-Ins at Two Liquor Stores

(April 7, 2020) — According to Haddam Trooper First Class Joe DeAngelo, someone attempted to break into Higganum Wine & Spirits sometime during the overnight hours of April 4-5, 2020.  During this incident, an unknown person(s) broke a glass pane in the door in an apparent attempt to gain access inside the building.  Fortunately, they were unsuccessful and entry was not made; nothing was stolen during the incident.  Unfortunately, there are no cameras on the premises and upon following up with neighboring businesses, no other information was available.

Someone did successfully break into Tony’s Package Store at 95 Bridge Road on April 7, 2020 at around 4:25 a.m.  Troopers responded to an alarm activation and found that an unknown individual had forced open the front door and made entry into the building.  Once inside, they proceeded to steal cigarettes and alcohol.

It is unknown if the two incidents are related, however Tony’s was able to provide video footage of the suspect, which is included here. The suspect in the Tony’s Package Store incident may have been driving a newer model, dark colored Subaru Legacy sedan.

Anyone that may recognize this person or that may have any information about either incident can contact Trooper First Class DeAngelo via e-mail Joseph.Deangelo@ct.gov or by phone at 860-399-2100.
