Haddam Social Services Ready to Help

Submitted by Becky Rice
(April 7, 2023) — Greetings From Haddam Senior and Social Services! If you are not familiar with us at 11 Jail Hill Road in Haddam, we wear many hats here.  Located at what is known as “The Annex,” up on the hill behind the Jail, are Senior and Social Services, the Municipal Agent for the Elderly, the Community Closet, and last but not least, the Food Bank.
The Food Bank is 100% funded by food and financial donations and we are so grateful for the support of the community for continually providing to those in our town who are in need.  In the month of March, we helped 68 adults and 18 children with food and toiletries, which is a two-fold increase from the previous month.  The Food Bank and Community Closet are open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on other weekdays by appointment only.
Becky Rice, shown at left in the photo above with Administrative Assistant April Hand-Barbi, has been Haddam’s new Director of Senior and Social Services for about two months and is enjoying the opportunity to assist and network with the community.
If you have any questions, you are welcome to reach us at 860-345-4621.  Food, clothing and monetary donations are accepted and greatly appreciated at 11 Jail Hill Road as well. Donations can be made at any hour, and left in the bins or in the locked drop box outside the front door.
