Where Does All the Plastic Go? Sustainability Committee Hosts Guest Speaker on Recycling

Submitted by Haddam Sustainability Committee

(November 13, 2024) — At its next meeting, on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the Haddam Sustainability Committee will host a guest speaker from All American Materials Recovery to discuss the latest figures regarding Connecticut’s compliance with recycling guidelines. We will also learn where Haddam’s recyclables go. A PBS news story in September was headlined, “The World is Producing 57 Million Tons of Plastic Pollution Per Year.” Reports such as these provide us with a look at the crisis we face if recycling isn’t taken seriously.

Madelyn Hart is an Outreach Specialist with USA Recycling, which operates the All American Materials Recovery Facility in Berlin. All American MRF is the plant that processes recyclables from Haddam. Ms. Hart will have a power-point presentation and will take questions from committee members and the audience.

The meeting will be held on December 3, 2024 at the Old Town Hall, 21 Field Park Drive in Haddam at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend in person, or on Zoom by using the following link:
