February 2023 Programs at Killingworth Library

Family Fun

Make a Heart-Felt Gift with Mrs. Fig – Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Elementary school-age students are invited to join us, as we create special Valentine’s Day crafts for loved ones! Materials will be provided. Note to adults: you must remain on the premises with children under the age of 12, but your attendance in the program would ruin your surprise! We invite you enjoy the rest of the library – including our Coffee Nook in the reading area – while your budding artists are crafting in the children’s room. Please register in advance.

Take Your Child to the Library Day – Saturday, February 4, 2023. Families are invited to celebrate this National event with a visit to the library! There will be a Silver Bunny Scavenger Hunt from 9:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m. Drop in to find a silver bunny in the stacks and win a prize! Starting at 10:30 a.m., Mrs. Fig will hold a story and craft time – registration is required for this part of the day’s activities. Please sign up in advance.

Valentine’s Pajama Storytime – Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 6:00 p m. Come dressed to cuddle and bring your favorite stuffed animal! Mrs. Fig will share her favorite Valentine’s Day stories. Family members of all ages are welcome. Please register in advance, so we know how many friends to expect.

Teens

Anime Club – Fridays, biweekly at 4:30pm, starting February 3, 2023. High school teens: join us for our new anime club meeting! Tell us what you’re interested in, and we’ll tailor this program to fit everyone’s interest. We can watch anime, discuss our favorite characters, learn about Japanese language and culture, or have video game showdowns! Depending on the interest of our club members, we will provide a Switch, and there may be some Japanese treats to enjoy! Open to teens in grades 9-12. Please register, so we know who to expect!

Teens & Adults

Rocks and Minerals of Connecticut – Sunday, February 26, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Presented by Bob Reynolds, this program for teens and adults will introduce the audience to the underground world of Connecticut: rocks and minerals. There will be samples for a hands-on experience! Space is limited, so please register in advance.

Adults & Seniors

Library Tips ‘n’ Tricks with Tammy continues! February’s topic is How To Search the Catalog -includes keyword and specific searches, narrowing results by item format, searching other libraries and requesting interlibrary loans, and other “hidden” details to help you find the item you want!. Sessions will be held every Wednesday: 1st and 15th at 10:30 a.m., 8th and 22nd at 3:30 p.m. Laptops will be provided, for individual practice. The class repeats each week, so register for the session that works for you!

Tic Tac Towhee Contest Returns on February 1st!

It’s the library’s version of the classic game, back for a second year! Simply identify the birds on this year’s game sheet – download the sheet and instructions from our webpage, or pick up a copy in the library. Identify the birds and submit your entry by February 28, 2023 to be entered for a prize. Winners will be announced on March 3rd.
