Submitted by Elizabeth Kuhns.

(August 14, 2019) — In response to the State of Connecticut instituting a 10 cents per plastic bag tax on August 1, Essex Savings Bank (ESB) donated nearly two hundred reusable bags to the Shoreline Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry (SSKP), the Madison Food Pantry, and the Chester Food Pantry for their grocery distribution pantry sites.  The Bank took the opportunity to present SSKP with their portion of the bags during one of the Bank’s quarterly volunteer Soup Kitchen dinners whereby staff purchase, prepare and serve a meal to support the Soup Kitchen.  Shown in the included photo delivering bags are ESB Assistant Branch Manager & Shoreline Soup Kitchen Dinner Coordinator, Sarah May, along with ESB Senior Vice President Lynn Giroux, SSKP Executive Director, Amy Hollis, ESB Executive Assistant Lisa Gentner, ESB Loan Servicing Rep Shelby Bersing, along with SSKP site coordinator, Shirley Rutan.
