Boys Tennis 2022: HKHS Defeats Portland 6-0

Submitted by Rod Pakus, Coach.

(April 4, 2022) — Sophomore Co-Captain Eddie White playing at #1 singles and freshman Bryce Leiberman in the #2 singles slot led H-K to a Shoreline win over the Portland Boys team in a match played on the Haddam Killingworth High School courts today.

“I would have expected those results from Eddie and Bryce, but am also impressed by the play of our new guys. Hopefully we can build on that foundation. Co-Captain Joe Mercier went to three sets in his match, but was able to come back strong after dropping a tough first set. You can tell that Portland has good athletes and it’s just a matter of time and experience before they are Shoreline contenders,” said Coach Pakus.

Individual match scores are as follows:

#1 Singles   Eddie Whjte (H-K) d. Ryan Kerr (P)  6-0,6-1
#2 Singles   Bryce Leiberman (H-K) d. Ben McGrew (P)  6-0,6-1
#3 Singles   Joe Mercier (H-K)  d. Elliot Rowland (P)  4-6, 6-0, 6-1
