On April 13, 2022, the Haddam Killingworth High School Tennis team defeated Old Saybrook in Higganum.
H-K’s strong singles play was too much for Old Saybrook to overcome, despite their strong showing in doubles, and allowed the Cougars to walk off the courts with a 3-2 match win.
The trio of Freshman Bryce Leiberman, Sophomore Co-Captain Eddie White and Senior Co-Captain Joey Mercier swept the singles matches and provided enough cushion to absorb the tough losses in doubles play. Old Saybrook’s doubles teams got off to a fast start, winning the first set in both matches. Their lead proved too much for the Cougars doubles teams to overcome and they closed out both matches in straight sets.
