Submitted by Tammy Eustis

(July 24, 2023) — The following events will take place during August 2023 at Killingworth Library, 301 Route 81 in Killingworth:

Creating Comics with Adam Wallenta              Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.
Join us as local author and artist Adam Wallenta takes us behind the scenes of his Punk Taco graphic novel series! Learn about the creative process behind the books, and see how professional comics are illustrated. This event will include a presentation and a drawing demonstration.
Recommended for ages 7+, but all ages are welcome! This event will be held in the library’s meeting room, since Adam will be showing a Power Point presentation. Please contact the library at 860-663-2000 to register, or visit the Calendar on the library’s website: killingworthlibrary.org.

Discovering Moths with John Himmelman      Thursday, August 24, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.
Join us as we welcome Killingworth author/photographer/illustrator John Himmelman! Meet the beautiful, fascinating, and underappreciated cousins of the butterflies. While you will learn about a couple of the pests (like, what’s the connection between Gypsy Moths and a crater on Mars?) and how they got here, we’ll mostly be celebrating the vast array of bewitching and beneficial species with whom we share our yards. Following the one- hour presentation, there will be time for questions, plus a book signing. Please contact the library at 860-663-2000 to register, or visit the Calendar on the library’s website: killingworthlibrary.org.

Summer Book & Bake Sale                                Saturday, August 12, 2023 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Hardcovers and paperbacks, fiction and nonfiction – plus puzzles, games, movies, audios, and more! This event will be held rain or shine, under the tent on the library’s back lawn. All proceeds support the Killingworth Library’s programs, materials and services.

16th Annual John P. Hine Memorial Golf Tournament Monday, August 21, 2023
Get ready for an exciting day of golf for a great cause, held at Clinton Country Club! Starting at 9:00 a.m., golfer registration opens and the driving range is available for warm-ups. At 11:00 a.m., we’ll provide a delicious lunch to fuel you up before the shotgun start of the tournament at 12:30 p.m. After a day of friendly competition and fun, we’ll reconvene for a dinner celebration at 5:00 p.m. The cost for this event is $175 per player, if paid by July 30, 2023. After that date, the registration fee increases to $200 per player. Visit the library’s webpage at killingworthlibrary.org to learn more and sign up, or pick up a registration form at the library, or email us at klagolf@pm.me with any questions.
