Arts Center Killingworth’s Annual Autumn Arts Festival
An Art-Filled Weekend with Live Music on the Madison Green
The Arts Center Killingworth returns to the Madison Connecticut Town Green to present its Annual Autumn Outdoor Arts Festival on Saturday, October 12, 10-5pm, and Sunday, October 13, 12-5:00 p.m. (rain date Monday, October 14, 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.) with new and original artwork and fine crafts created by established and emerging artists from throughout Connecticut and the tri-state region. The Festival is located at Boston Post Road (Route 1) and Copse Road, and includes representational and abstract painting, as well as photography, ceramics, fiber and paper art, printmaking and fine jewelry design. Artisans exhibiting on the Green feature work with mixed media, wood, leather, stoneware, fabric and wool, silver, copper and semi-precious stones.
In addition, the Festival includes a six-week Group Gallery Show at Spectrum Gallery and Artisans Store in Centerbrook from September 27 through November 10, 2019. Select pieces by artists participating in the Arts Festival are presented including painting, photography and mixed media collage. Also, there are many new, one-of-a-kind fine crafts for fall in Spectrum’s Artisans Store.
Entrance to both the Autumn Arts Festival on the Madison Green and Gallery Group Show at Spectrum is free. In addition to the artist exhibits, the Green also includes live music on Saturday afternoon with The Jan Jungden Trio – All that Jazz! With Jan swingin’ on vocals, keyboards and flute, Fred Fagan walkin’ the bass and Idalberto Perdomo adding rhythm on drums. Classic to modern jazz, Latin, swing, and a bit of R&B, this tight but spontaneous ensemble really delivers with something for everyone!
Several food options will be available, such as Curb Your Appetite which serves a variety of special hamburgers and sandwiches, Sultan Kebab offering a choice of delicious kebabs, and Moon Rocks Gourmet Cookies selling their homemade specialty cookies (Sunday only).
As always, visitors to the Autumn Arts Festival on the Madison Green will receive a complimentary event program with map and booth locations of each artist, and information on upcoming Arts Center and Spectrum Gallery classes, workshops, and Gallery receptions.
