Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (Dawless) Vogel, 95, of Higganum, wife of the late Henry J. Vogel,
passed away on October 19, 2026, at Gladeview Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Old
Saybrook. Born in Stamford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Gladys
(Jacobus) Dawless.
Betty worked as a school bus driver for Region 17 for many years. She was an avid
gardener, bird watcher, and cook. She enjoyed the beach, was always ready for a good time and
above all loved her family and her dogs.
Betty is survived by a son Henry W. Vogel and his wife Beth of Higganum, two daughters
Elizabeth Stehr and her husband Paul of Higganum and Kris-Anne Vogel of Killingworth, three
grandchildren Justin Stehr and his wife Janeil, Beth-Anne Stein and her husband Joshua and
Joseph Vogel and four great grandchildren Jaxin Stehr, Joelle Stehr, Hunter Stein and Colton
Stein. She is also survived by her niece Anne Eslinger and her husband Ed Stroiney; great niece
Lynsey Searcy her husband Troy and their three children Claire, Rowan and Oliver; and a great
niece Katherine Malinowski and her husband Jeff.
