(August 18, 2026) — September is Library Card Signup Month! A card from the Killingworth Library will expand your horizons: download various e-content through Libby, Hoopla, and the Palace Project – explore museums and local attractions with a discount library pass – learn a new language with Mango and hone your purchasing options with Consumer Reports – check out some fun from our Video Game and Toy Lending Library collections – peruse our Library of Things for anything from a Slushi machine to a power washer – borrow materials from any public library in the state, in person or through interlibrary loan – manage your library account from home – and of course: browse our own collection of materials for all ages! Killingworth residents applying for their first library card in September will receive a token gift (certificates for children, pens for older patrons), and are welcome to join us at a Library Card Holder craft program on September 30th (please register to reserve your spot). Whether you’re new to town or just haven’t had a chance to visit us yet, stop by and see what we have to offer. Applying for a card is free, and the benefits are a wealth of riches!
Annual Book Sale – Saturday, September 12th, 9:00am-2:00pm. We have a year’s worth of donated books of all genres, for all ages, as well as large print, puzzles, and games! The sale will be held rain or shine, with the selection set up in the library’s meeting room (and on the lawn, weather-permitting). All proceeds benefit the Killingworth Library Association.
If you would like to donate to our sale: please bring items to the circulation desk during library open hours. Materials must be in good salable condition – no mold, tears, chews, minimal underlining; no textbooks or encyclopedias please. We may stop taking donations about a week before the sale, to allow time for sorting and organization. Thanks!
Johnny Tremain All-Ages Book Discussion – Join us as we discuss the adventures and themes of the historical fiction classic Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes. The program will be held in October (date to be determined), but extra copies of the book will be available for checkout at the circulation desk starting in September. Young readers, families, and seniors are all invited to attend. Following the discussion, participants can enjoy history-themed activity tables to learn more about the Revolutionary time period. Space is limited, so please register in advance.
Holiday Closing
The library will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026 in observance of Labor Day.
