(May 2, 2026) — The Chester Fair is calling on local high school students to help support its nationally recognized “Zero Waste Program” during this year’s Fair on August 28, 29, and 30, 2026. Volunteers will play a key role in maintaining the Fair’s commitment to sustainability while earning free admission and community service hours.
As one of only two traditional country fairs in the United States operating a “Zero Waste” initiative, the Chester Fair continues to lead by example in environmental stewardship. Having diverted 75% of the Fair’s trash from the waste stream last year, we look to do even better in 2026!

Volunteers will assist fairgoers at waste stations, helping them properly sort trash, recycling, and compostable materials. Their efforts directly contribute to reducing landfill waste and promoting responsible environmental practices. “We’re excited to welcome students who want to make a real impact,” said program coordinator Kim Price. “It’s a fun way to enjoy the Fair, support the community, and help protect the environment, all at the same time.” Volunteer shifts run three to four hours, and participants may sign up individually or with friends. All volunteers receive free all‑day entry to the Chester Fair.
