Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. “All About Invasive Plant Species”
Join us at Essex Library as we host Rose Hiskes of the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, and Lois Tolley, invasive plant steward of the Essex Land Trust, to discuss invasive plant species. The origins, identifying characteristics and life cycles of some species commonly encountered in Connecticut will be discussed as will management options. This is a joint program of the Essex Library Association with the Essex Land Trust. Space is limited. Registration is suggested. Essex Historical Society Director Melissa Josefiak will detail the complex relationships and shifting allegiances during the American Revolution in the Potapaug village of Saybrook, now known as Essex. Art Exhibit, Runs Through April 28, 2026
Essex Library is hosting an exhibition of art work by Laura Bevis. It will be on view through April 28, 2026 and most works are for sale, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the library. The exhibit is open for viewing during the Library’s regularly scheduled hours.
