(December 28, 2025) — The following is “A Winter Song”……………..
‘Twas the night before snowfall, and all through the town
Everyone scurried to get hunkered down.
Long lines at the market to buy milk and bread
While visions of burst pipes danced in their heads.
Top off gas cans for the generator
Or lose what’s in the refrigerator.
Frantic calls to guys with plows
Or loads of firewood; can you bring it now?
Batteries, oil lamps, how many candles,
Where’s that shovel with the ergonomic handle?
Pots full of water, no room in the sink
Fill the tub for the toilet, and bottles to drink.
The storm path models tell different stories
The weatherman is in his glory
And our very last thought before sleeping tonight:
For once is the forecast gonna be right?
