Unofficial Results from RSD 17 Budget Referendum 6/6/2025

(June 6, 2025) — Unofficial results from the Regional School District 17 Budget Referendum held on June 6, 2025 are as follows:

Haddam Results

Yes       324

No        436

Killingworth Results

Yes        296

No         331

  1. I believe these results are an indication that taxpayers just can’t afford higher taxes. These are financially trying times for most households; especially those on fixed incomes and low income earners. Both towns have high wage earners, but I don’t believe they are the ones turning out to vote. Unless the towns find a way to reduce taxes for retirees and low income families, I predict a majority of no votes until such time the budget requires no raise in mil rate.
