Candlewood Farm Arts Foundation Hosts Solstice Symposium and Concert Series in June

(May 27, 2025) — Candlewood Farm Arts Foundation (CFAF) announces Solstice Symposium 2025, its seventh chamber music festival promoting the study and celebration of classical guitar. Held in conjunction with a concert series, this year’s Symposium takes place over five days, from June 19, 2025 to June 23, 2025 in Higganum.

An international assembly of acclaimed artists offers expert instruction and performances, including: Grammy-award-winning guitarist Jason Vieaux, Dutch maestro Jan Bartlema, renowned guitar-cello duo Rupert Boyd and Laura Metcalf (Boyd Meets Girl), Israeli mandolinist Jacob Reuven and American classical guitarist Adam Levin (Duo Mantar), Colombian guitarist Carlos Bedoya, Colorado-based guitarist Andrew Wilder, native Floridian Fred Springer, and Dr. Andrew Zohn. Andrew Zohn heads the Guitar Department at the Schwob School of Music in Columbus, Georgia (Columbus State University) and is the Artistic Director of Solstice Symposium.

Concerts, lectures, and presentations are offered free of charge to the public, but attendees are encouraged to R.S.V.P. to arts@candlewoodfarmartsfoundation.org for limited seating, especially at evening concerts. Registration for Solstice Symposium 2025, includes private lessons, master classes, and meals. The fee is $300. Partial registration is available upon request. Evening concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Captain John Smith Barn, 95 Jacoby Road in
Higganum (photo above).

  • Sunday June 22, 2025

This afternoon concert begins at 4:00 p.m. It will be held at the Higganum campus of the United Congregational Church of Haddam and Higganum (UCCHH) located at 23 Parsonage Road in Higganum. Doors open thirty minutes before concerts begin. Additional concert information can be found on the CFAF website.

Candlewood Farm Arts Foundation was established in 2008 as a registered 501-(c)-3 with a mission to foster appreciation of live chamber music and to support the study of early Connecticut vernacular architecture—especially barns.
