Haddam Land Trust Botanical Walk August 10th at Swan Hill

Submitted by Haddam Land Trust

(August 5, 2024) — The Haddam Land Trust Swan Hill Preserve in Higganum has great plants and animals in addition to great views!

Botanist/Ecologist and Haddam Land Trust board member Gail Reynolds will lead a botanical walk on Saturday, August 10, 2024, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

See the very interesting plants growing on Swan Hill.  This is not a fast hike.  We will be stopping frequently to view and identify plants.

Wear sturdy shoes, as the landscape is rocky and uneven.  Bring water, insect repellent, and hand lens, if desired. Meet at the old Haddam dog pound.  See directions below:

From the traffic light at the junction of Route 154, Route 81, Candlewood Hill Road and Depot Road in Higganum Center, turn onto Depot Road.  Take a left turn onto the bridge over Higganum Creek.  Continue on Dublin Hill Road.  Pass Dublin Lane.  Turn left onto the next unnamed road.  Take a left by the Haddam Land Trust sign to park by the old dog pound.

If you become lost while traveling to the old dog pound, call 860-424-6143.
