He writes, “This is a 1940’s era postcard that I purchased on EBay a few years ago. It was intended to publicize the new war memorial in town in the wake of World War II. Interestingly, the photo also shows a great shot of the old Union School just prior to the construction of Haddam Elementary School, which replaced it.”
From the Haddam Historical Society website (www.haddamhistory.org): Union School stood on the Higganum Green between 1894 and 1951. There is a plaque on the Higganum Green acknowledging the school and its many years of service.
