Rep. LaMark Muir Wins Democratic Endorsement for Re-Election

Submitted by State Rep. Renee LaMark Muir

(June 3, 2026) — Renee LaMark Muir has been endorsed as the Democratic candidate for State Representative and has qualified and been approved for campaign public financing under the Connecticut Citizen Election program. Following a first term defined by practical results for the 36th Assembly District, she is honored and excited to run for reelection.

LaMark Muir has been a strong voice for public safety and environmental protection, from securing a new resident state trooper for Deep River to leading efforts more quickly containing invasive species in local waterways. She has championed public safety, affordable housing, education, healthcare, and support for working families. Serving on key committees, she helped pass legislation expanding childcare and universal pre-K, strengthened special education, lowering electric costs, promoting renewable energy, and protecting public health. She fought to preserve essential services for seniors, children, veterans, and vulnerable residents against federal funding cuts.

LaMark Muir secured millions in state funding for Chester, Deep River, Essex, and Haddam, supporting schools, transportation, public safety, open spaces, farms, youth programs, and conservation. “My focus has always been simple: listen to residents, solve problems, and deliver real results for our towns,” she said. LaMark Muir grew up in Ivoryton and has lived in Deep River for more than thirty years. She remains deeply committed to the people of the 36th District.
