(March 29, 2026) — The Haddam Historical Society will host an “America 250” program on April 16, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at the HVFC firehouse, 439 Saybrook Road in Higganum. Local historian and former teacher Phil Devlin will present a fascinating talk called “Middlesex County 250” on the area’s contribution to the War for Independence and highlight those who sacrificed their livelihoods, families and lives in the name of freedom.

2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the issuance of the Declaration of Independence. In honor of that historic event, communities across the New England and elsewhere are recalling their participation in the American Revolution. This presentation will focus on interesting stories of the towns in Middlesex County during the Revolutionary period with an emphasis on Haddam, Killingworth and Middletown.
The program is free for HHS members, $5.00 for non-members.
