(January 15, 2026) — Adam Wallenta of Killingworth, an author, and illustrator of comics, graphic novels and children’s books, will appear with his son, Makana, on February 21, 2026 at Killingworth Library.
Father and son created a graphic novel series called Punk Taco when Makana was five years old. The first book in their original self-published series, it went on to win several national awards, including a Ringo Award for “Best Kids Comic or Graphic Novel.”

Makana is now 14 years old and father and son have published a new book, Punk Taco Adventures Volume 1, soon to be released. “We are very proud of this book because it features brand new stories that we worked on together alongside my youngest son, Keola, who is 10 years old, making this his first published work,” said Wallenta.
There also is a story in the book that the three wrote together that features art from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Chuck D (from Public Enemy), and numerous best-selling cartoonists such as Mike Cavallaro, Scott Chantler, Art Baltazar and more, alongside Wallenta’s former students, who are in fifth and sixth grade.
The program at Killingworth Library will begin at 11:30 a.m.
