(January 12, 2026) — The Haddam Tax Collector’s office is alerting resident that postmark dates on mailed payments may be delayed. The U.S. Postal Service recently issued a warning that mail might not be postmarked on same day that it is dropped off. A new USPS rule clarifies that postmarks are applied at regional processing centers, not at local post offices and could reflect a late postmark date.
Residents are encouraged to plan ahead when mailing time-sensitive items such as tax payments. If you need a same-day postmark, take your mail to the post office counter and request a manual postmark. Mailing items early is strongly recommended.
Reminder: Tax payments must be received or postmarked on or before February 2, 2026.
