As a candidate for Haddam’s Board of Finance, I believe our town must think carefully about how it spends its money. I will bring to the board experience from my work as a professor of business economics and a background in banking and retail. My career assessing the financial stability of firms has impressed upon me the importance of thoughtful budgeting and prudent financial management.  Although not originally from Haddam, my family and I have made it our home, and I want to ensure that we make decisions that keep it a great place to live tomorrow.

Haddam has tremendous public resources and programs, and I deeply appreciate the town employees, community volunteers and residents who make the town thrive.  As a town, we need to support them while making every dollar count. This includes making sure that our families and residents have places to learn and gather, like the Brainerd Library, the Senior Center, public parks, and local events, and that they can access them on safe, well-maintained roads.

If elected, it will be my first term on the board.  I plan to bring a fresh perspective and collaborative approach to my work there. I believe in a transparent budgeting process so that residents know the town’s funding priorities, and why decisions are made.  Our town needs to engage in forward-looking financial planning, considering our financial stability not just for this year but for years to come.

Haddam is a special town, one that values both fiscal responsibility and quality of life. As a Board of Finance member, I will uphold these values by asking careful questions, encouraging smart investments, and voting for budgets that reflect our shared priorities while keeping spending disciplined. On November 4th, I ask for your vote to help keep Haddam’s finances strong, accountable, and ready for the future. Thank you.

Collin Raymond, Haddam
