Editor’s Note: HK-Now.com and Haddam Killingworth News asked the candidates for Board of Selectmen in Haddam and Killingworth to submit brief biographies as a way of introducing themselves to voters. Below is the response from Mark Lundgren, a candidate for Haddam Selectman. The candidate’s reply is unchanged from the original as submitted. I have been active in Haddam’s Government for a long time. Currently on the Board of Finance and Chairman of the Committee on Aging. Also involved, since it was an idea, with Haddam Elderly Housing Corp. (High Meadow).
I consider myself a Fiscally Conservative Republican. My record as a former First Selectman and current Board of Finance member shows that. I believe that less government is the best government.
Here are some of the things I support:
*An Ordinance giving local businesses a “leg up” when bidding for Town work.
*Fewer light polluting and expensive Street Lights.
*Improved prioritizing road and drainage projects.
*Possible return to sand and salt, instead of straight salt, for winter road treatment.
*Install a Townwide Rapid Response Policy to citizen’s concerns.
My love for our Town has always been foremost in my mind and is why I am convinced that voting for Sean, Kate and I the Citizens of Haddam will have a Board of Selectmen that want to do the Right Thing always.
