(August 29, 2025) — September will be a busy month for the Haddam Senior Center. Please see the Calendar and Menu link below:

SEPTEMBER 2025 Event Calendar

Also in September, Club 60 will be starting up again. Club 60 meets on Monday, September 8, 2025 and on Monday, September 15, 2025. Meetings are at 1:00 p.m. and are located at the Community Center in Higganum. I encourage you to check them out! And now, on to the Senior Center highlights:

Friday, September 5, 2025 – Tai Chi returns to the Haddam Senior Center! Our Tai Chi class is held every Friday at 10:00 a.m. and is led by town resident Tom Cushing. It is a wonderful way to improve your balance and strength.

Also on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. – Mini Spa Manicures with Stacey Hathaway. Space is limited, so please call or email the Senior Center to reserve a time. Manicures are $20, payable to Stacey.

Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. – Sherry Carlson will be here for our monthly blood pressure clinic. This is a drop-in event and sign up is not required.

Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. – GameDay! Stop in to play your favorite board game!

Monday, September 22, 2025 at 12:00 Noon – We have our monthly Pizza and a Movie! This month the movie is “Mamma Mia,” starring Meryl Streep. Please call or stop by the Senior Center to reserve your seat.

Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. – September Birthday Celebration – You don’t need to have a birthday in September to celebrate, but we will be recognizing our friends who do!

Friday, September 26, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. – Silk Flower Arranging Workshop – We are proud to welcome back Cathy Bowe from Cathy & Co. Botanicals for a fun workshop creating silk arrangements for fall. Space is limited for this event, so sign-up is required. There also is a fee of $20 for Haddam Seniors and $25 for non-resident seniors to help cover materials.

Monday, September 29, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. – We have our second Mystery Book Club meeting. We have selected the book “Still Life,” which is Book 1 in the Armand Gamache series. If you would like to join this fun group, please reach out to Doreen and we will make sure you have a book to read so you can join the discussion. This is a fun, low-pressure book club so please consider joining! I also would like to thank our friends at Brainerd Memorial Library who help us procure the books we read each month.

As a reminder, we have Mobility twice a week, on Mondays and Thursday at 11:15 a.m. This is an all-abilities class that helps build strength, stamina and overall mobility. This is a drop-in class, and sign-up is not required.

Lunch is served at 12:00 Noon on every day that we are open. Advanced reservation is required! Lunch totals are called in by 1:00 p.m. the previous business day, so it is imperative that we have your reservation before then. For lunch on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays we ask for a $3 donation; on Fridays we ask for a donation of $5. I also ask that if you are paying for Friday, that you either pay on Friday, or if you are paying for the week, let me know that it includes Friday’s lunch so that I can put the money in the proper account.

If there is something you would like to see or do at the Senior Center, I am always open to suggestions!
