(June 19, 2025) — The Haddam Historical Society is forming a group of interested residents to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and founding of our country in 2026.
This is an opportunity to explore and learn from our shared American past and build stronger connections within our community. Using CT 250 Themes of “Tell Inclusive Stories,” “Power of Place,” “Doing History” and “For the Common Good,” we hope to create and plan relevant and unique events, programs and publications that share Haddam’s heritage and deepen the public’s appreciation for local history. We would like to involve and invite other community organizations, schools and neighbors to celebrate this significant anniversary.
Please contact the Haddam Historical Society at contact@haddamhistory.org or call 860-345-2400 for further information.
The first meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at the former Haddam Elementary School Library at 272 Saybrook Road, Higganum at 6:30 pm. (This meeting was originally scheduled for June 26, 2025, but has been changed because of a meeting on the new town garage that is scheduled for that day).
