Connecticut Open House Day

Free admission to the Thankful Arnold House Museum and Garden from Noon to 4:00 p.m. Games, scavenger hunt and demonstrations.
Connecticut’s Historic Gardens Day
June 22, 2025
12:00 Noon to 4:00 p.m.
Thankful Arnold House Museum
Free admission to the museum and garden with craft and light refreshments. Kristy Benson-Amarante of Higganum’s Bittersweet Farm will be on hand to talk about herbal and medicinal teas, and Bethany Naccarato, author of the museum’s garden book will be featured to sign books and talk about her experience as a master gardener.
A Week in the Life of an Early American Child
June 23, 2025 to June 27, 2025 and July 21, 2025 to July 25, 2025

Each summer, the Haddam Historical Society holds its popular kids program “A Week in the Life of an Early American Child,” and this year, it will run twice. Offered Monday through Friday, June 23, 2025 to June 27, 2025 and July 21, 2025 to July 25, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon each day, the program is open to all children ages 8–12 and gives kids a chance to unplug and experience old-fashioned fun! Croquet and Chardonnay
June 28, 2025
4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
The Haddam Historical Society will host the Seventh Annual Croquet and Chardonnay Tournament Fundraiser at the beautiful and historic “Nestledown,” at 268 Walkley Hill Road in Haddam. The event will feature multiple courts, including the famous Heartbreak Hill. Heavy appetizers, wine, beer, and lemonade are included and there will be a Hat Contest for both men and women. The grand champion will win the coveted golden mallet. Croquet whites are optional, but encouraged. There also will be a silent auction of exquisite items. Join us for an afternoon of fun, food and fierce competition. $45 per person for HHS members, and $55 for non-members. The rain date is Sunday, June 29, 2025.
