(April 28, 2025) — Haddam-Killingworth Youth and Family Services has announced a fun line-up of family and community events this Summer.  These opportunities to celebrate the season and spend time in the community are open to all. Please visit www.hkyfs.org/event/ to learn more and sign up.

Family Movie Nights HKYFS brings outdoor Movie Nights to families and the community! Each movie at beautiful Parmelee Farm includes free popcorn. Keep an eye on our social media and newsletter to vote for your favorite family-friendly movies.

Dates:   May 16, 2025; July 11, 2025; August 15, 2025

Time:  After Sunset (around 8:15 p.m.) Admission is free

Location: Parmelee Farm, Killingworth

Kids Run-a-Muck  HKYFS and the HKIMS PTO are thrilled to share that Run-a-Muck is back! This half-mile or one-mile obstacle/mud run is an exciting opportunity for your children to get outside, challenge themselves, get dirty, and have a ton of fun! Finisher medals for all participants.  Please register your child(ren) on our website.  HKYFS is proud to share that the Rotary Club of Middletown is helping to sponsor this event.

HKYFS Summer Solstice Celebration This wonderful community event is a celebration of the Summer Solstice and National Make Music Day. Highlights of the evening include:

  • Family Olympics: Families of all ages work together in a series of fun games and challenges designed to enhance connection and communication. Registration is required and includes participation medals for all.
  • Musical Performances: The evening will feature world-class children’s musician Steve Elci and Friends, as well as popular vibes from the Madison School of Rock.
  • Food Trucks: Delicious food from James Madison, Fire in the Kitchen Pizza, and Ice Cream Emergency will make the evening complete!
  • Activities: Activities hosted by HKYFS, Parmelee Farm, KWO, Brainerd Memorial Library, Haddam Historical Society, HKHS National Arts Society, and others will keep your kids busy all night long. Activities include face painting, rock painting, yard games, crafts, and more. This year we are hoping to encourage our tweens and teens to attend and will offer henna and mini-tarot readings to encourage them to celebrate a safe and fun night with peers and community. All activities are free.
