On Saturday, August 10, 2019, the Killingworth Congregational Church will hold its annual road race. The race will begin at the Congregational Church (273 Route 81), just north of the traffic circle.
This year, the race course runs north on Route 81 from the Congregational Church, turns right onto Wolf Hollow Road, and turns right again onto Roast Meat Hill Road.
Before the intersection with Reservoir Road, the race will turn around and return on the same route: Roast Meat Hill Road to Wolf Hollow Road to Route 81 and back to the Congregational Church.
At 8:00 a.m., Wolf Hollow Road and a portion of Roast Meat Hill Road will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the race (under two hours). Roast Meat Hill Road will be closed from Route 148 south to Reservoir Road. (Residents of those roads will be able to get to and from their residences with caution.) Route 81 will be closed very briefly at the beginning of the race.
“We appreciate your cooperation during these temporary closures,” says Richard Mulhall, Killingworth Resident State Trooper.
