(June 14, 2023) — The Albert J. Solnit Children’s Center in Middletown is seeking volunteers to purchase and complete fleece blanket kits for the youth at the Center’s South Campus at 915 River Road in Middletown. Our youth are age 13-18 years. The fleece blanket kits are 72-inch blankets. The 56-inch blankets are too small.
In December 2012, we started making fleece blankets to give to each youth as part of their holiday gift. Due to the generosity of so many in our community, this program has expanded over the years and now each youth receives a fleece blanket upon admission.
This is a great service project for youth and adults. The kits are beautiful and quite easy to assemble. The kits can be purchased at JoAnn Fabrics (on sale). The finished blankets would need to be delivered or scheduled for pick-up anytime.
