Letter Writing Social – Friday, September 1, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. September 1st is World Letter Writing Day! Electronic communication is great, but texts and emails can’t quite capture the personal touch of a handwritten letter. Come spend some time at the library and write a letter to a friend, a family member, or maybe a politician… Or, get an early start on those Christmas cards! The library will provide free stationery and craft supplies, including fountain pens, old-fashioned dip pens, and a wax sealing kit! We will also have a variety of postcards, and stamps will be available for purchase. Light refreshments will be provided. Creative, communicative fun for all ages. No registration necessary – just drop in!
“Ancient Wisdom, Modern Hope” Author Talk – Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 6:00 p m to 7:00 p m. Join local author James T. Powers for a talk about his new book, Ancient Wisdom, Modern Hope: Relearning Environmental Connectiveness. Powers, a historian and founding member of the Quinnipiac Dawnland Museum in Guilford, will discuss the themes within the book, which focuses on changing our relationship with nature in the face of the climate crisis. Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase after the presentation. Space is limited, so please register in advance – sign up online through our website’s calendar, or call the library at 860-663-2000.
