Sen. Needleman lists local Halloween events

Happy Halloween! This great festive holiday is right around the corner in our neck of the woods, and as a result, I want to share local Halloween events and festivities with you. At any of these events, you can spend time with your family and loved ones, making spooky memories that you won’t forget. This isn’t a definitive list – if you don’t see any events local to you, please check your town’s website, and if there are any must-attend events near you, please let me know! No matter where you live in our Senate District, there will be something happening to help you celebrate Halloween right.

Chester

Now in its 21st year, Chester’s annual Halloween Pumpkin Festival and Parade will be held Friday, October 25. This event will have a costumed art gallery opening, a pumpkin carving contest, a Halloween parade and a Halloween Hayride in the Chester Village Center. The event is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m.

Clinton

On Friday, October 25 at the Clinton Crossing Premium Outlets, 20 Killingworth Turnpike, the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, Clinton Crossing Premium Outlets and Shoreline Community Women will host the annual Halloween Spook-Tacular Trunk or Treat. Colchester

On November 1, Colchester Parks and Recreation will host its Trick or Trunk event at the Colchester Recreational Complex, located at 215 Old Hebron Road. This event, now in its 11th year, allows families to all join together and trick or treat from cars, vans and trucks. Whether you want to bring your children, pass out candy to hundreds of trick or treaters or compete for the best-decorated trunk, this is a great community event. Register here.

East Haddam

In East Hampton, two annual events will help everyone in the community celebrate together. On Thursday, October 24, from 3 to 6 p.m., the East Haddam Leos will hand out free pumpkins at Nathan Hale Pharmacy for the annual Pumpkin Walk, which will take place Saturday, October 26 through Monday, October 28. On each of those days, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Heritage Park, the walk will occur, with a fire show scheduled for Monday evening at dusk.

Additionally, your family will love the 24th annual Project Safe Halloween, hosted by East Haddam Youth and Family Services and the East Haddam Police Union. Held at the Municipal Office Complex on 1 Plains Road in Moodus from 5 to 8 p.m. on Halloween evening, this event allows for worry-free trick or treating, hayrides and fire trucks, all for the kids. More information is available here.
