Rockfall Foundation Presents “Connecticut’s Secretive Cat” March 21st

Submitted by Pete Weiss

(March 1, 2023) — The Rockfall Foundation is hosting a free presentation at the deKoven House Community Center, where Gail Cameron will give us insight into Connecticut’s only wild cat. Learn about the bobcat, how it almost disappeared from our state, and how the population is now recovering.

Gail Cameron (above photo) is a Master Wildlife Conservationist volunteer with Connecticut DEEP. She assisted the Wildlife Division with their bobcat study in 2017-2019. She is also the President of the Hamden Land Conservation Trust and Park Naturalist for the Sleeping Giant State Park Association. She has participated in a mammal monitoring program with the Pomfret Audubon Center since 2008, and loves nothing more than being outside and learning from nature.

Gail’s talk will detail the biology of the bobcat, how it almost disappeared from our state and how the population is now recovering. Join us to learn more about “Connecticut’s Secretive Cat.”

Join us on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 6:00 p.m., at Rockfall’s deKoven House, 27 Washington Street, in Middletown.

Wearing a mask is optional.
