(July 24, 2024) — The Rockfall Foundation recently visited Deer Lake Camp in Killingworth, owned and operated by Pathfinders, Inc. This visit celebrated a grant awarded by the Foundation, which funded the purchase of twenty full-body harnesses for the Deer Lake Wilderness School. These harnesses ensure safety and inclusivity, support climbers with restricted abilities, and enhance the overall climbing experience.
The new harnesses will be used in various educational and recreational activities at Deer Lake, including high and low ropes courses, rock climbing, rappelling, and team-building exercises. These programs cater to middle and high school students, as well as participants in the Deer Lake Wilderness School, and help them develop essential skills that build confidence, leadership and teamwork. Participants also gain a deep appreciation for local ecology and environmental stewardship through these experiences.
The Rockfall Foundation supports Pathfinders’ mission to provide safe, enriching experiences at Deer Lake Camp. We look forward to the continued success of the Deer Lake Wilderness School.
