PSA from Troopers: Lock Your Cars!

(Feb. 11, 2020) — Local troopers have noticed over the last few weeks, there has been a spike in both car thefts and people entering unlocked cars and stealing items during the overnight hours.  Reminder: please ensure you remove any valuables from your vehicles, lock your cars, and NEVER leave your keys/fobs in your vehicles.

They are working on identifying the individuals responsible, but simply locking car doors and removing keys will undoubtedly result in a drastic decrease of these types of incidents.

Tips:
  • Always keep your vehicles locked no matter where you live and try to keep them in well-lit areas.
  • Do not leave firearms in your vehicle.
  • Set car alarms.
  • Do not hide keys or key fobs in your vehicle.
  • Consider installing or activating your vehicle GPS tracking units, i.e., On-Star.
  • Do not leave your car running unattended even if it is for a few minutes.
