I’m only one person and while excited to be running for First Selectman in Killingworth, I am also excited about the team we have assembled for November’s election.
Eileen Blewett, running for Selectman, and I will work together to move this town forward. Eileen and I have known each other for many years. In her first term as Selectman, she has consistently listened to residents pushing issues to the forefront that needed to be addressed. Working together, we will continue to listen and communicate with our residents.
We know that there are serious infrastructure issues at Town Hall and the Fire Department that have not been addressed for many years that must now be taken care of, and we will begin to address those issues immediately upon taking office. Together, we will develop an affordable plan to update the fire station to improve use of the facility for our first responders, replace the town hall modulars and then remediate the historic town barn.
Our Board of Finance slate includes Douglas Lefko, Sara O’Brien and Todd Blewett. Doug just completed fulfilling a vacated seat on the BOF, while Sara and Todd are new candidates. They are all talented individuals in their professional careers and are like-minded in looking for ways to keep our mil rate low. Together with Eileen and I, we will work as a team to identify funding sources to support planned capital improvements. We all know the work needs to be done, we just need to identify how to do it in a fiscally responsible way.
We are ready to listen to our residents and businesses to learn your thoughts as well. We all look forward to servicing you and encourage everyone to vote on Tuesday, November 2.
