Dear Editor:
It is with a Strong sense of pride that I write this letter in support of Representative Bob Siegrist for the position in the 36th District for the State of Connecticut. As a registered Democrat for almost all my life supporting a Republican Representative is something that certainly is worthy of note. I’ve known Representative Siegrist for a number of years now and have worked with him on Public Safety Issues. His extreme dedication, integrity and professionalism along with an overwhelming commitment to the people in the 36th District is certainly worth bringing forward to the people that he serves. As a retired Lt. Col. from the Connecticut State Police, working with Mr. Siegrist on several issues has demonstrated to me that he regularly seeks professional opinions as to how better to serve and protect each and every one of his constituents in our district. Whether he is seeking ideas for the most recent car breaks or out securing hundreds of thousands of dollars in a bond for our 9/11 system, he constantly keeps the best interest of his constituents in mind. In this day and age is appreciated that Representative Siegrist is not another self-serving politician.
It is not often that someone such as Mr. Siegrist is able to work across party lines and get whatever is necessary done to serve the best interest of us in our district. It is evident that his growing up here and working in the district is a huge plus for all of us. To know what our needs are and work to gain them is a commendable undertaking. His accessibility at the coffee hours that he holds to speak with his constituents, his budget hours in town hall meetings, and his constant availability even when the Legislature is in session has made him one of the most approachable and understanding politicians that we’ve had in our district in a very long time.
I can only recommend that each and every one of us that lives in the 36th District consider casting a vote for Mr. Siegrist and re-electing him to continue representing all of us. We can no longer have the progressive Democratic agenda which has released far too many convicted criminals back into our society without proper vetting. Those convicted and early released persons have stolen our property and taken away our sense of security in our own homes. I can only say thank you to Bob for being there for this district when we needed him most and for having a complete and thorough understanding of the issues that surround us in our small towns.
