Letter to the Editor: Opinions – A Poem

The views stated here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the editors of this newspaper.

To the Editor:

Everybody’s got ’em
Everywhere you spot ’em
It’s unhealthy to repress ’em
Best constructively express ’em.

The Bosco House could use some heat
A brand new furnace would be neat
We don’t agree, we won’t invest
It’s no issue – give it a rest.

A town green with all the trimmings?
Or oppose all new beginnings.
The Democrats are mostly right,
Or their ideas we wish to fight.

We’ll build a school on 81
We’ll spend some money — have some fun
The land is bad, it’ll never perk
The engineer performed a quirk.

Tax base is what we need in town
To pay for roads and cap and gown.
I’d rather pay the extra bucks
To keep out noise of cars and trucks.

I know what course we ought to follow.
What reasoning’s sound and what is hollow.
But how to show this to the world?
To state my case with flag unfurled.

The answer’s simple — your place awaits,
Where you can join in town debates.
Your opinions are “sittin’ pretty”
On the Killingworth Republican Town Committee.

Member of the Killingworth Republican Town Committee
