Letter to the Editor: In Support of Sen. Cohen and Rep. Goupil

The importance of state governments has become obvious the past four years in ways it never seemed to before. Concerns with handling a pandemic and ensuring election integrity loomed large. Here in Connecticut, it took a government of integrity, knowledge-based decisions, and courage to keep us on a positive and prosperous track.

Here in Killingworth, we can be proud of the steadiness and competence of our own State Senator, Christine Cohen and our State Representative, Christine Goupil. They have shown us that they are there for us through difficult times. Working diligently through the pandemic, they kept us informed of legislative issues and accomplishments.

As a resident of the Beechwood Community on Route 81, I know how quickly they responded to our concerns about the problems that arose when a change in community ownership spread unease and fears among Beechwood residents. They came, along with Killingworth’s First Selectwoman, prepared to listen, advise, and act where they could.

Goupil and Cohen have the right stuff to continue to represent us in Hartford. The right stuff, to my mind, is character, integrity, fact-based decision making, and a willingness to reach across the aisle and work for the common good.

In fact, I am asking you to Vote Row A in support of the Democratic Team from Governor Lamont to our local representatives, the two Christines, this November 8th. It is a team worth keeping and voting is our superpower.

Kathleen Amoia, Killingworth
