(Oct. 13, 2018) — The Democrats have controlled the Governor’s office for the past eight years and the State Senate and the State House for as long as most people can remember. The State is faced with a $4.6 billion deficit in the upcoming fiscal year. Connecticut ranks 50th out of the 50 states in just about every category measuring our economy, our tax burden, and our quality of life.
The only reason I can see for anyone voting for Norm Needleman or Christine Palm is if you like the direction the Democrats have taken the state and you would like more of the same.
Melissa Ziobron is seeking election to the State Senate from our area. As Ranking Member of the Appropriations Committee, she understands the state budget and has consistently supported fiscally responsible policies. Melissa has been an environmental champion in the State Legislature advocating for our state parks, serving on the Sportsman Caucus and the Environmental committee. On the extremely important issue of school funding, she fought to maintain the ECS funding for our towns which Governor Malloy had proposed to eliminate or reduce during the most recent budget making process.
Bob Siegrist is seeking re-election to the State House representing Haddam, Chester, Deep River and Essex. Bob Siegrist worked tirelessly to secure the funding for bringing safe drinking water to the residents of Tylerville. He helped to secure funding for housing for the elderly and disabled persons in Deep River. Siegrist fought hikes in the income tax and the sales tax, fought for the removal of the tax on Social Security benefits and supports the constitutional cap on state spending.
I urge voters to support Melissa Ziobron for State Senator in the 33rd Senate District and Bob Siegrist for re-election to the 36th Assembly District.
Ed Munster,
Former State Senator, 33rd District
