Letter to the Editor: In Support of Laurenza, Luisi and Maggi for Haddam P&Z

Hello. I’m writing to express my support for Jamin Laurenza, Dan Luisi, and Larry Maggi for the Haddam Planning & Zoning Commission.

We are fortunate to have these three well-seasoned small business owners on the P&Z. With their combined knowledge, the town of Haddam, and young entrepreneurs, benefit greatly from their experience. These entrepreneurs, wanting to open a business in Haddam, stand a much better chance of being successful in a state well known for not being business-friendly.

After reading some of the Letters to the Editor in favor of the alternative party’s selections, I’m fearful for the survival of existing businesses that some have alluded to as being “undesirable.” I fear the alternative party’s selections would impose grandiose P&Z regulations that would allow only certain niche businesses that cater to a small group of people, and force the existing businesses to close or move out.

This would result in turning back the hands of time to when all we had in town were empty storefronts, vacant restaurant buildings, and lost lawsuits to pay for.
I urge you all to vote for what is working!
