Letter to the Editor: In Support of Joel D’Angelo for Killingworth Board of Selectmen

After twelve years on the Regional School District 17 Board of Education, I would like to take that experience and broaden my contribution to the town of Killingworth by running for the Board of Selectmen. My name is Joel D’Angelo. I live in Killingworth with my wife and daughter and have lived here only slightly longer than I’ve served on the RSD 17 BoE. I hold a Ph.D. in Biology from Wesleyan University and have been a teacher and administrator at Hopkins School in New Haven for 20 years.

On the Board of Education, I served as Board Treasurer, Chair of the Finance Committee, and two years as Chair of the Board. All of that prepared me for handling a large budget and constantly evaluating the future infrastructure needs of our school system.

My BoE service allowed me to work the way I prefer to work. My approach is to listen and to work in a bipartisan, collaborative way. I have always worked from a position of sound research and open dialogue. My science background is an additional asset as we deal with present and future environmental issues such as PFAS.

It is with these experiences and approaches to problem solving that I seek your vote this November 7th, for a position on the Board of Selectmen.

Joel D’Angelo, Killingworth
