Letter to the Editor: In Support of Cohen and Goupil

I recently watched the debate for State Senator, 12th Senate District, and State Representative, 35th Assembly District. The incumbent candidates, Christine Cohen and Christine Goupil, demonstrated a vast knowledge of state issues and how they affect residents in their district. They were informed, articulate, and well prepared, and demonstrated an unmistakable commitment to the people they serve.

Cohen and Goupil are public servants who have a genuine concern for their constituents and the complex issues facing Connecticut voters. They support legislation for firearm safety, healthcare, the environment, voting rights, women’s reproductive freedom, and the well-being of those in law enforcement and fire. Further, their legislative efforts and intervention are evidence of their commitment. They don’t simply talk about what they will do, but have provided us with the proof.

With so much at stake in our communities, doesn’t it make good sense to go with candidates with a proven track record? I plan to vote for the candidates who have the knowledge and experience to lead. It matters who sits in the seats at the State Capitol representing our towns. We deserve qualified candidates who will get the job done.
